Workshop 1 - 3 hours

  • Welcome, housekeeping, introductions, agenda (10 mins)

  • Overview – what is keto and how does the Kathy’s Keto Kickstart program work ? (40 mins)

  • Bring out example keto foods and drinks to taste at tables, describe and explain what about them makes them keto-friendly (consume while listening to next sections) (10 mins)

  • Understanding macros and nutritional labelling (20 mins)

  • Practical activity – instructor-led set up of MyFitnessPal app on participants’ devices, inputting personalised information and goals, trying out some basic app features (30 mins)

  • What to expect on Days 1-7 after starting keto eating (20 mins)

  • Doctor/Nurse presentation (10 mins)

  • Initial survey completion (10 mins)

  • Handout of written resources, display of basic handy tools, how to use them, where to find support and help (10 mins)

  • Questions and Answers Session (20 mins)


Workshop 2 - 2 hours

1 week after the first session

  • Welcome, housekeeping, agenda (10 mins)

  • Recap of expected experiences on Days 1-7 (10 mins)

  • Participants’ check in and sharing of actual experiences, problems, obstacles and solutions (30 mins)

  • Bring out example keto foods and drinks to taste at tables, describe and explain what about them makes them keto-friendly (consume while listening to next sections) (10 mins)

  • Discussion on common misinformation, pitfalls, realistic expectations, and how to apply and modify keto/low carb eating in a way that helps YOU achieve YOUR OWN goals (20 mins)

  • Information and evidence regarding the scientifically-backed benefits of keto/low carb regimes on chronic diseases (10 mins)

  • What to expect on Days 7-28, reminder to use written resources and support group (10 mins)

  • Questions and Answers Session (20 mins)


Workshop 3 - 2 hours

4 weeks after the first session

  • Welcome, housekeeping, agenda (10 mins)

  • Recap of the expected experiences so far (10 mins)

  • Participants’ check in and sharing of actual experiences, problems, obstacles and solutions (30 mins)

  • Bring out example keto foods and drinks to taste at tables, describe and explain what about them makes them keto-friendly (consume while listening to next sections) (10 mins)

  • Discussion on sugar/blood sugar/insulin biochemistry, gluconeogenesis, proteins, healthy fats, portion sizes, and the myth of starvation mode (20 mins)

  • What to expect onwards from Day 28, reminder to use written resources and support group (10 mins)

  • Final survey completion (10 mins)

  • Questions and Answers Session (20 mins)
